The Global Griot

A participatory storytelling project exploring Black history, speculative futures, and the African diaspora through zines, reading salons, interviews, and community imagination.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Global Griot is an ongoing publication exploring speculative futures, overlooked histories, and cultural memory through the lens of Black, Indigenous, and Brown communities. Combining historical research, illustration, worldbuilding, and community storytelling, each issue imagines what becomes possible when these stories are placed at the center rather than the margins.

INSIDE THE ISSUE

Readers move through articles, travel features, interviews, advertisements, and visual essays that together imagine a world where Black, Indigenous, and Brown cultures shape the global conversation.

READING SALON

Each issue is designed to be experienced collectively through reading salons, where participants gather to read, discuss, and imagine the world of The Global Griot together.
