About

A circular profile image of a Black woman with thick locs laughing joyfully. She wears bold neon pink hoop earrings, and the background features a soft, blurred outdoor setting with a bridge in the distance.

Dara Hartley is a multidisciplinary artist and designer based in New York City. Blending technology, craft, and storytelling, her work celebrates Black joy, beauty, and presence across time, space, and imagination. With a foundation in Afrofuturism, she reimagines travel posters, textiles, and mixed-media works that explore cultural memory and creative possibility.

Her artistic practice bridges the digital and the handmade—combining 3D printing, embroidery, AI-generated art, and traditional craft techniques to honor the past while envisioning new futures. Inspired by history, literature, and the vibrancy of the African diaspora, Dara’s work is a celebration of joy, self-expression, and radical imagination.

When she’s not making something, you can find her wandering through a museum, tending to her garden, experimenting with microgreens, or geeking out over Star Trek.
